Daidalos

'Daidalos' is an encounter between Wolf Govaerts and Belinda van der Stoep. While both literally and metaphorically building a stage for each other, they immerse themselves into some archetypes of Greek mythology and the opera 'Ariadne auf Naxos' from Richard Strauss. Rather than literally bringing them to the stage - even though that briefly happens - they want to reflect on both dwelling as on moving forward.

'There are no more deserts. There are no more islands. Yet there is a need for them. In order to understand the world, one has to turn away from it on occasion; in order to serve men better, one has to hold them at a distance for a time. But where can one find the solitude necessary to vigor, the deep breath in which the mind collects itself and courage gauges its strength?'
